Many people who are diagnosed with colorectal cancer have no symptoms, and people with polyps rarely have symptoms. In fact, 75 percent of people diagnosed have no known risk factors. Regular screening should start at age 50 or sooner if there is a family history of the disease or if you have other intestinal issues.

Here at Digestive Health Specialists, we believe in the importance of prevention. We are excited to announce that our Ultrasound Department here at Digestive Health Specialists received accreditation once again this year through the ACR (American College of Radiology). This accreditation comes after being surveyed by the Committee on Ultrasound Accreditation of the Commission on Quality and Safety and will stand for three years.

National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable members have joined together to create the shared goal of reaching 80 percent screened for colorectal cancer by 2018. We hope to help in the success of this goal and have joined the efforts, along with many other organization, by signing the pledge.
