About Us

Caring for you, close to home

Our mission is to improve the health of the people in our communities by preventing and managing digestive illnesses with expertise and compassion in a fiscally responsible manner.

We are committed to preventing colon cancer and optimizing your digestive health.

Our experience makes us experts in Colon Cancer prevention and detection: Combined, our physicians perform more than 10,000 colonoscopies a year! Every DHS physician performs at least 600 colonoscopies each year, with most of our physicians completing between 800 – 1,000 colonoscopies annually – significantly over the nationally recommended averages! Our physicians maintain a high colon-polyp detection rate – well above the national benchmarks!

We provide patient-centered, evidence-based treatment and preventative management of all digestive disorders and conditions, including Celiac disease, Colon Cancer prevention, Constipation, Crohn’s disease, Diarrhea, Hepatitis and related liver problems, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Reflux disease (GER/GERD) and swallowing difficulties, Ulcerative colitis, and Ulcers. Our physicians and staff recognize that strong and healthy relationships must be formed to successfully treat each patient’s individual condition. We believe that every patient is different and will require a high-quality, personalized plan of care to meet their unique needs.

Physicians: Fourteen board-certified physicians

Physician Assistants: Seven board-certified physician assistants

Training: All DHS physicians are board-certified or eligible gastroenterologists trained in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. All of our doctors completed three to four years of GI training in addition to an internal medicine residency. As part of their training, they received specialized training in colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures.

Caring Staff: Our Physicians, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, and other medical and support staff all share the common goal of providing each of our patients with an excellent experience. Our team works together to provide focused and compassionate medical care to each individual that we see. We take pride in the strong relationships that are established between our staff and patients. When you visit our offices, you can look forward to being greeted by smiling professionals.

Responsive Care: For your convenience, all of our phones are answered by live receptionists. Our telephone nursing team is available for digestive health questions and concerns daily from 8 AM-5 PM. They strive to return all calls received prior to 3 PM within the same business day to ensure that your questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner. For after-hours care, our answering service will be glad to take your call and contact one of our On-Call Physicians as needed. Our website offers valuable information on digestive disease and prevention as well as procedures. Please always call 911 for emergencies.

State-of-the-art facilities provide the latest in medical technology in a highly personalized setting. Our centers are licensed by the State of North Carolina and approved by CMS (The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) to provide outpatient endoscopy services.
